Meltec®, the star ingredient for sugar reduction

Meltec® is a semi-solid fiber of vegetable origin developed by HiFood that, similar to syrup, contains less than 1% of naturally occurring sugar and shares the same technological properties. 

Declared as vegetable fibers and water, it allows the claim "no added sugars" and its characteristics define it as water soluble, with a neutral taste and odor, allergen free and clean label. In addition, it does not undergo the Maillard reaction. 

As for its functions, it stands out as a binder, texture improver with a good mouthfeel, thickener and humectant, replacing sorbitol and glycerin. In addition, it also replaces glucose syrup and has a cryoprotective effect. 

Meltec® is ideal for applications in cereal bars, margarines, ice cream, beverages, sauces and for applying a layer or coating on the surface of a food.
